Local Area Information

We are located just outside the village of Wilberfoss, just 8 miles to the East of York. Wilberfoss has a well stocked Costcutters and Post office, a good local butchers and village pub The Oddfellows Inn. At the playing fields park you will find The Pavillion which also serves food and drinks.

Pretty little Stamford Bridge, where one of the famous battles in 1066 was held, is only 3 miles away and has a few small shops, takeaways and a Co -Op.

Pocklington, which sits at the bottom of the Yorkshire Wolds is approx 5 miles away and is our local market town. The market day is Tuesdays. There are lots of independent shops, coffee shops, places to eat and drink and also Pocklington Arts Centre which holds films and events/shows. Burnby Hall and Gardens in the town is also worth a visit.

Pocklington has Sainsbury's, Aldi and Co-op. On the outskirts are Subway, Burger king, Starbucks and KFC.

Travel 8 miles West to York city centre. There are lots of Park and rides surrounding the city, Grimston Bar being the closest, along with retail parks Monks Cross, Vanguard,  Clifton Moor and the Designer Outlet.

There are lots of attractions in York and the surrounding areas, to name just a few:

York Minster, The City walls, The Shambles, York Dungeons, The Jorvik Centre, Castle Museum, York Maze, Yorkshire Air Museum, The Railway Museum and  Clifford's Tower.

Travel just a little further to reach The North Yorkshire Moors, Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, Castle Howard and of course not forgetting some of the best East coast seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington.
